Building an argument: Point, Reason, Example, Conclusion (P.R.E.C.)

Useful phrases for rebuttals and counterpoints

Grammar Focus: Modal verbs, simple connectors

Practice: Pair debates on simple topics

✅ Week 3: Active Listening & Spontaneous Speaking

Listening for main ideas and cues

Interrupting politely and asking for clarification

Vocabulary: Emotions, current events, values

Practice: Spontaneous group conversations

✅ Week 4: Group Discussion Techniques

Turn-taking, summarising, and prompting others

Body language and active listening signals

Real-life GD formats (e.g., job interview style)

Practice: Timed group discussions + peer feedback

✅ Week 5: Debating on Social & Ethical Issues

Key concepts: Ethics, rights, fairness, values

Vocabulary: Equality, diversity, privacy, freedom

Practice: Role-based debates (judges, speakers, moderators)

Topics: Climate change, tech impact, social media, AI

Argument strength: using data & logic

Practice: Formal debates with time limits

✅ Week 7: Voice, Confidence & Expression

Handling stage fear and nervousness

Advanced sentence structures & persuasive techniques

Practice: Extempore speaking, counter-response rounds

✅ Week 8: Final Debates & Feedback

Final assessment debates (1v1 and group)
